Diagnosis amended: Fungal spore one-celled, diporate; pores at opposite ends of the grain. The pores can be modified, for example with atrium, annulus, or septa, forming a chamber of pore; variable contour, variable ornamentation.
Taxonomy
Diporisporites was named by Elsik (1968) [Van der Hammen, 1954 emend Elsik, 1968. Type species: Diporisporites elongatus.]. It is not extant. It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type is Diporisporites elongatus.
