Eoscorpius mucronatus was named by Kjellesvig-Waering (1986). Its type specimen is GSM PF 1392 and is an impression. Its type locality is Dodworth, near Barnsley, which is in a Westphalian A terrestrial shale in the Parkgate Coal Formation of the United Kingdom.
