Taxonomy
Gondwanascorpio emzantsiensis was named by Gess (2013). Its type specimen is AM7501, a claw, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Waterloo Farm, which is in a Famennian lagoonal shale/sandstone in the Witpoort Formation of South Africa. It is the type species of Gondwanascorpio.
