Quadrithyris was named by Havlicek (1957) [Sepkoski's age data: D Gedi-u D Give-l Sepkoski's reference number: 25]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Quadrithyridinae.

It was reranked as Delthyris (Quadrithyris) by Havlicek (1959).

It was assigned to Delthyris by Havlicek (1959); to Spiriferida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Quadrithyridinae by Williams et al. (2006).
