Palaeobalistum orbiculatum
Taxonomy
Palaeobalistum orbiculatum was named by Blainville (1818). Its type specimen is MNHN Bol 0523, a tooth, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Monte Bolca (MNHN Paris Bol. collection), which is in a Ypresian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal limestone in Italy. It is the type species of Palaeobalistum.
