Polygrammoceras chicottense was named by Foerste (1928). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is 1 mile west of Box Brook & 2 miles west of Shandon Point, which is in a Telychian carbonate lime mudstone/grainstone in the Jupiter Formation of Canada.
