Taxonomy
Ptolemaia grangeri was named by Bown and Simons (1987). Its type specimen is CGM 42843, a tooth (left m3), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Quarry V (Jebel Qatrani Formation), which is in a Rupelian fluvial sandstone/mudstone in the Jebel Qatrani Formation of Egypt.
