Williams 1962 | Subrectangular, subequaUy biconvex Plectorthis, brachial valve just over two-thirds as long as wide and slightly more than one-third as deep as long, commonly with a shallow sulcus bounded by elevated flanks, complementary ventral sulcus shallow and wide; ornamentation dichotomously costellate with 14-18 neanic costae bifurcating within a few millimetres of the umbo, so that the adult shell appears to be multicostate with 29-36 (most commonly 35 or 36) strong, rounded "costae" with a wave-length of 1 mm. at about 10 mm. antero-medianly of the umbo and separated by interspaces of about the same width bearing concentric lamellae and radial filae; ventral muscle-scar acutely triangular, about three-fifths as wide as long and extending forward for about two-fifths the length of the pedicle valve, vascula media divergent; cardinal process blade-like. |
