Kopella incerta
Taxonomy
Kopella incerta was named by Nikitina et al. (2006). Its type specimen is USNM 485176, a shell (complete shell), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Locality 121. Eastern side of the Kopalysai valley, southern Chu-Ili Range, which is in an Abereiddian foreshore sandstone in the Uzunbulak Formation of Kazakhstan. It is the type species of Kopella.

Ventral valve with a high apsacline to catacline interarea bearing a large pseudodeltidium perforated apically and bordered by a perideltidium. Dorsal valve moderately convex with a low anacline interarea; notothyrium covered by chilidium. Radial ornament multicostellate. Ventral interior with short, stout teeth supported by short, widely divergent dental plates. Ventral muscle field large with diductor scars extending well beyond but not enclosing the narrow, subtriangular adductor scar. Dorsal interior with high, wide notothyrial platform, not supported by a septum. Cardinal process bilobed with closely set lobes. Socket plates wide, close to subparallel to the hinge line. Dorsal adductor scars weakly impressed, strongly elongated, arranged radially. |
