Taxonomy
Devonaster was named by Schuchert (1914) [Sepkoski's age data: D Emsi D Fras Sepkoski's reference number: 2]. It is not extant. Its type is Palaeaster eucharis.

It was assigned to Mesopalaeasterinae by Schuchert (1915), Kesling and Wright (1965), Spencer and Wright (1966); to Pustulosida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Xenasteridae by Blake (2018).
