It was assigned to Palaeophiuridae by Schuchert (1915); to Asterozoa by Spencer (1940); to Eophiuridae by Spencer (1951) and Owen (1965); to Rhopalocomidae by Spencer and Wright (1966); to Stenurida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Stenuroidea by Blake (2013).
