Trichocrinus was named by Mueller (1856) [Sepkoski's age data: S Ludl D Emsi Sepkoski's reference number: 998]. It is not extant.

It was synonymized subjectively with Triacrinus by Ubaghs et al. (1978).

It was assigned to Disparida by Sepkoski (2002), Ausich (2018).
