Taxonomy
Isocrania phosphatica was named by Simon (1998). Its type specimen is IRScNB-IST 10681, a valve (ventral valve), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Sample 18, Van Damme quarry, Ciply, which is in a Maastrichtian carbonate chalk in the Ciply-Malogne Phosphatic Chalk Formation of Belgium.
