Hypsosteiromys nectus

Taxonomy
Steiromys nectus was named by Ameghino (1902). Its type specimen is MACN A 52-172, a mandible (dext. with d4-m2), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Gran Barranca - southern cliff of lake Colhué Huapí, which is in a Colhuehuapian terrestrial horizon in the Sarmiento Formation of Argentina.

It was synonymized subjectively with Hypsosteiromys axiculus by Patterson (1958); it was recombined as Hypsosteiromys nectus by Candela and Vucetich (2002), Vucetich et al. (2010).
