Erraticodon was named by Dzik (1978) [Sepkoski's age data: O Aren-u O Llde-l Sepkoski's reference number: 800]. It is not extant. Its type is Erraticodon balticus.
It was assigned to Conodontophorida by Sepkoski (2002); to Chirognathidae by Sweet (1988), Pyle and Barnes (2002); and to Prioniodinina by Donoghue et al. (2008).
