Pterocera subtilis was named by Zekeli (1852).

It was recombined as Quadrinervus subtilis by Kollmann (1980); it was recombined as Harpospira subtilis by Kollmann (2009).

H. A. Kollmann 1980Umgänge vor dem letzten mit einer kräftigen Kante im oberen Drittel. Letzter Umgang mit drei annähernd gleichen Kanten, die sich in Leisten in den annähernd halbkreisförmigen Mündungsflügel fortsetzen. Flügel an der Spira angeheftet, aber unvollständig. Siphonalkanal gerade.
H. A. Kollmann 2009Pterocera subtilis Zekeli, 1852, possesses a sculpture of strong nodes and a labral wing of almost semicircular outline and seems to be closely related (to Harpospira polycera [d´Orbigny]).
