Cerithium suzanna was named by d'Orbigny (1850). It is the type species of Moniquia.
It was recombined as Faunus suzanna by Cossmann (1888); it was recombined as Pirena suzanna by Douvillé (1921); it was recombined as Pleurocera suzanna by Feugueur (1963); it was recombined as Melanatria suzanna by Pacaud (2007); it was recombined as Moniquia suzanna by Pacaud and Harzhauser (2012).
