Taxonomy
Batropetes palatinus was named by Glienke (2015). Its type specimen is MNHM PW 2001/307-LS, a skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Niederhausen/Appel, which is in an Asselian terrestrial horizon in the Meisenheim Formation of Germany.
