Taxonomy
Ammonites lamellosus was named by d'Orbigny (1844). Its type specimen is MNHN.F.R04087, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was synonymized subjectively with Phricodoceras taylori by Bremer (1965); it was recombined as Phricodoceras lamellosum by Buckman (1920), Frebold (1970), Edmunds et al. (2003), Zaitsev and Ippolitov (2023).
