Gnomohalorites americanus
Taxonomy
Halorites americanus was named by Hyatt and Smith (1905) [Attributed to Hyatt (1892), but that mention is a nomen nudum]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Genesee Valley, near Gifford's (Robinson's) ranch, which is in a Sevatian carbonate limestone in the Brock Shale Formation of California.
It was recombined as Gnomohalorites americanus by Tozer (1979).
