Taxonomy
Sclerocephalus nobilis was named by Kratschmer and Resch (2005). It is not extant. Its type specimen is NHMM-PW 2005/2, a skeleton. Its type locality is Klauswald at Odernheim, which is in an Autunian terrestrial shale in the Meisenheim Formation of Germany.
