It was synonymized subjectively with Onchosaurus by Arambourg (1940).
It was assigned to Pristidae by Checchia-Rispoli (1933); to Galeomorphii by Sepkoski (2002); and to Sclerorhynchidae by Cappetta (1987), Cappetta and Corral (1999), Zalmout and Mustafa (2001), Suárez and Cappetta (2004), Guinot et al. (2023).
