Taxonomy
Bulimus citharellus was named by Lamarck (1804). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Parnes, Oise (Defrance collection), which is in a Lutetian carbonate sandstone in France.

It was recombined as Auricula cytharella by Deshayes (1824).
