Taxonomy
Christiania magna was named by Sheehan (1987). Its type specimen is IRScNB 1576, a valve (interior and exterior molds of dorsal valve), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is 74B19, which is in a Rawtheyan deep-water shale in the Fosses Formation of Belgium.
