Taxonomy

Columbella gausapata was named by Gould (1850). It is extant.

It was recombined as Astyris gausapata by Keep (1888); it was recombined as Amycla gausapata by Cooper (1888); it was recombined as Columbella (Astyris) gausapata by Arnold (1903); it was recombined as Columbella (Alia) gausapata by Dall (1921); it was recombined as Mitrella carinata gausapata by Grant and IV and Gale (1931); it was recombined as Mitrella gausapata by Woodring and Bramlette (1950), Hendy (2021).

Synonyms

Columbella (Astyris) constantia was named by Moody (1916). Its type specimen is UCMP 11079, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCMP loc. 3030, Fourth Street and Broadway Street, Los Angeles, which is in a Piacenzian marine claystone in the Fernando Formation of California.

It was synonymized subjectively with Mitrella gouldii by Grant and IV and Gale (1931).
Nassa pedroana was named by Conrad (1855). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Recent Formation, San Pedro [of Conrad, 1855], which is in a Pleistocene coastal sandstone in the Palos Verdes Sand Formation of California.

It was synonymized subjectively with Mitrella gausapata by Hendy (2021).
Nitidella gouldii was named by Carpenter (1857). It is extant.

It was recombined as Astyris gouldii by Baker (1902); it was recombined as Mitrella gouldii by Grant, IV and Gale (1931) and Soper and Grant (1932); it was misspelled as Nitidella gouldi by Dall (1916); it was synonymized subjectively with Mitrella gausapata by Hendy (2021).
Columbella californiana was named by Gaskoin (1852). It is extant.

It was recombined as Columbella (Astyris) californiana by Gaskoin (1851) and Arnold (1903); it was recombined as Columbella (Alia) carinata californiana by Dall (1921); it was synonymized subjectively with Mitrella carinata gausapata by Grant and IV and Gale (1931); it was synonymized subjectively with Alia carinata by Hendy (2021).
Columbella (Nitidella) dalli was named by Smith (1880). It is extant.

It was synonymized subjectively with Mitrella gouldii by Grant and IV and Gale (1931).
