Taxonomy
Brachygaulus leistneri was named by Korth and Tabrum (2011). Its type specimen is CM 78391, a mandible, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Matador Ranch (Upper), which is in an Orellan terrestrial horizon in the Cook Ranch Formation of Montana.
