Taxonomy
Trimerorhachis was named by Cope (1878). It is not extant. Its type is Trimerorhachis insignis.

It was assigned to Rhachitomi by Cope (1884); to Archegosauridae by Hay (1902); to Trimerorachidae by Watson (1919); to Dvinosauria by Schoch (2013); and to Trimerorhachidae by Olson (1955), Daly (1973), Carroll (1988), Yates and Warren (2000), Schoch and Milner (2014).
