Arkansaurus fridayi
Taxonomy
Arkansaurus fridayi was named by Hunt and Quinn (2018). Its type specimen is UAM 74-16, a set of limb elements (partial right pes), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Lockesburg (UAM), which is in an Albian marginal marine sandstone in Arkansas. It is the type species of Arkansaurus.

Quinn 2018 | Ornithomimosaur with a third metatarsal that is laterally compressed proximally but that is still visible along its entire extensor surface and which possesses the following unique combination of synapomorphies: long slender metatarsus; proximal articular facets of the metatarsals ovoid in shape; pedal unguals more strongly ventrally curved distally than any other ornithomimosaur; and the distal ungual has a very weak flexor tubercle, is curved and not flat, and does not have mediolateral spurs. |
