Taxonomy
Nyctocrinidae was named by Moore and Laudon (1943). It is not extant. Its type is Nyctocrinus. It is the type family of Nyctocrinacea.

It was assigned to Nyctocrinacea by Ubaghs et al. (1978); and to Dimerocrinitacea by Ausich (1998).
