Taxonomy
Turricula calafia was named by Nelson (1925). Its type specimen is CS 988, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is CAS loc. 391, Runkle Canyon, Simi Hills, which is in a Selandian marine siliciclastic in the Santa Susana Formation of California.
