Intrasporeocoelia was named by Fan and Zhang (1985) [Sepkoski's age data: P Guad-l P Dora Sepkoski's reference number: 936]. It is the type genus of Intrasporeocoeliidae.
It was assigned to Calcarea by Sepkoski (2002); and to Intrasporeocoeliidae by Finks et al. (2004), Senowbari-Daryan and Rigby (2015).
