Exicrioceras diabloense was named by Anderson (1958). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is CAS Loc. 29123 - Pacheco [Mustang Shale, Moreno Fm], which is in a Maastrichtian marine mudstone/shale in the Moreno Formation of California.
