Leinia was named by Senowbari-Daryan (1990) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Carn Sepkoski's reference number: 941]. It is not extant. Its type is Leinia schneebergensis.
It was assigned to Calcarea by Sepkoski (2002); and to Celyphiidae by Finks et al. (2004).
