Taxonomy
Saurichthys orientalis was named by Sytchevskaya (1999). Its type specimen is PIN 3267/172a, b, a partial skeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Madygen, PIN collection 3267, which is in a Carnian lacustrine - small siliciclastic in the Madygen Formation of Kyrgyzstan.
