Taxonomy
Psilunio latiovalis was named by Liu and Luo (1978). Its type specimen is Chendu Institute of Geology and Mineral Resources, Sbi313 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Jiayang Coal Mine, Qianwei, which is in a Triassic fluvial-lacustrine horizon in the Wuzhongshan Formation of China. It is the type species of Qianweiella.
It was recombined as Qianweiella latiovalis by Liu and Luo (1981).
