Taxonomy
Puncturella punctocostata was named by Berry (1947). Its type specimen is Berry Coll. 11998, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Second St & Pacific Ave of Berry [Lomita Marl], which is in a Pleistocene offshore marl in the Lomita Marl Formation of California.
It was recombined as Puncturella (Puncturella) punctocostata by Skoglund (2002).
