Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
J. A. Rasmussen 2001The apparatus is basically trimembrate, comprising drepanodontiform, oistodontiform and costate elements. The drepanodontiform and oistodontiform elements are asymmetrical, adenticulate and acostate. The drepanodontiform elements are planoconvex and nongeniculate, while the oistodontiform elements are inwardly bowed, planoconvex or gently biconvex, and geniculate or nongeniculate . The costate elements make a symmetry-transition series of costate, adenticulate, nongeniculate coniform elements making at least 1 9 different variations based on the location and num ber of costae on the lateral surfaces. Costiean us n. gen. is characterised by a basal cavity which extends about 30 - 50 % of the total length of element.
