Taxonomy
Heterocricetodon serbicus was named by Marković et al. (2019). Its type specimen is Valniš 027 VA-501, a tooth, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Valniš, which is in an Oligocene fluvial-lacustrine claystone in Serbia.
