Avicula azzarola was named by Stoppani (1865). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Azzarola, Central Lombardy, Italy, which is in a Rhaetian reef, buildup or bioherm reef rocks in the Calcare di Zu Formation of Italy.
