Taxonomy
Gastrochaena herculea was named by Stoppani (1857). It is not extant. It is the type species of Teutloporella.

It was recombined as Diplopora herculea by Salomon (1895); it was recombined as Teutloporella herculea by Ogilvie Gordon (1927).
