Taxonomy
Megalodus stoppanii was named by Frech (1912). It is not extant.

It was recombined as Neomegalodon stoppanii by Tichy (1980).

Synonyms
  • Megalodus columbella was named by Guembel (1900). It is not extant. Its type locality is Nassereith, which is in a Triassic carbonate limestone in Austria.

    It was replaced with Megalodus stoppanii by Frech (1912).
