Taxonomy
Dosinia margaritana was named by Wiedey (1928). Its type specimen is SDSNH 33, a valve, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is LSJU loc. 436, La Panza, which is in a Miocene coastal sandstone in the Vaqueros Formation of California.
It was recombined as Dosinia (Dosinidia) margaritana by Loel and Corey (1932), Keen (1943).
