Quercypsitta sudrei was named by Mourer-Chauvire (1992) [MSme diagnose que ceUe de la famille plus caract6res suivants : pas de fenStre coracoidienne sur le coracoide, contour de l'extr6mit6 distale du tbiotarse fortement 6chancr6 en raison de la profondeur de la gorge intercondylienne.]. Its type specimen is USTL BFI 1903, a set of postcrania (Tarsometatarse gauche presque complet), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is La Bouffie, which is in a Priabonian karst phosphorite in France.
