Taxonomy
Scalopoides was named by Wilson (1960). It is not extant. Its type is Scalopoides isodens.

It was assigned to Urotrichini by Van Valen (1967); to Scalopini by Freeman (1979), Gunnell et al. (2008); and to Talpidae by Wilson (1960), Carroll (1988), Korth and Evander (2016).
