Titanoides was named by Gidley (1917). It is not extant. Its type is Titanoides primaevus.
It was assigned to Titanoidinae by Patterson (1934); to Coryphodontidae by Patterson (1939); and to Titanoideidae by Gidley (1917), Simons (1960), Carroll (1988), de Muizon and Marshall (1992), Lucas (1998).
