Phoenicites danteana was named by Massalongo (1858). It is not extant. It is the type species of Hemiphoenicites, Manicarites.
It was recombined as Hemiphoenicites dantesiana by Visiani (1864); it was recombined as Manicarites dantesianus by Bureau (1896).
