Hypophylloceras (Neophylloceras) groenlandicum was named by Birkelund (1965). Its type specimen is MMH 9737 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Oyster-ammonite Conglomerate loc. I, Agatdalen, Nugssuaq, which is in a Maastrichtian offshore shale in Greenland.
