Taxonomy
Cretorectolobus doylei was named by Underwood et al. (1999). Its type specimen is LIVCM 1998.48.G, a tooth, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Bed D2D, Speeton, which is in a Hauterivian offshore claystone in the Speeton Clay Formation of the United Kingdom.
