Taxonomy
Odontaspis samhammeri was named by Cappetta and Case (1975). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Hop Brook (HBR), which is in a Maastrichtian coastal sandstone in the Navesink Formation of New Jersey.
It was recombined as Carcharias samhammeri by Case and Cappetta (2004), Retzler et al. (2013), Hoganson et al. (2019).
