Leptostomia begaaensis

Taxonomy
Leptostomia begaaensis was named by Smith et al. (2020). Its type specimen is FSAC-KK 5075, a partial skull (Partial rostrum, anterior to nasoantorbital fenestra and missing tip), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Aferdou N'Chaft, which is in a Cenomanian fluvial sandstone in the Ifezouane Formation of Morocco. It is the type species of Leptostomia.

The following features are autapomorphic: lateral and dorsal rostral angles (sensu McPhee et al., 2020, Tb. 1) less than or equal to 3. Cross-sectional outline of anterior portion of rostrum and mandibular symphysis semi-circular. Cross-section of beak with thick cortices and reduced central cavity.
